    User reviews and ratings are an important contributing factor to your Google Business Profile rankings and customer interest. So the type of reviews your business receives, whether positive or negative, matters for your business profile on Google Maps. 


    Google may consider profiles with a good number of reviews on top of the list. If you are receiving a good number of positive reviews and one or two negative reviews may not make a huge impact.


    It is important to request your customers to ensure your business profile receives regular reviews. If you find any negative reviews, identify whether the source is genuine or not. Respond to reviews regularly and professionally. 


    This will help to keep the Google business profile updated and active as well. Posting regularly in GBP will also help the profile to keep updated.

    However, a few negative reviews alone usually won’t severely impact rankings. What matters more is how businesses respond to them. A professional and timely response can actually improve customer trust and show that the business actively cares about customer feedback.

    One of my projects recently received a fake review. Upon checking with the client, they confirmed that no such enquiry or customer interaction had taken place. Based on the client’s feedback, we immediately submitted a professional reply to the review and reported it to Google for further action. In many cases, taking quick action like this helps protect the business reputation and maintain customer trust.

    A few things that usually help:

    • Respond politely and professionally to every review
    • Report fake or spam reviews immediately
    • Encourage satisfied customers to leave genuine reviews
    • Keep the Google Business Profile active with regular updates and photos
    • Focus on improving overall customer experience
